You will note vehicles with serial numbers later than those quoted above have a brass non return valve (Part #618120) fitted into the windshield washer inlet tube "T" piece directly above the radio. To modify cars prior to the above we have mailed each owner of record a similar valve, free of charge, requesting they install it, unchamfered end first, into the outlet tube of the washer pump.
Below is a sample of the iunstructions mailed to eac owner, however, should they encounter any difficulty, would you please install the valve, if requested to do so. The labour time is fractional and should be done F.O.C. as a courtesy to the customer.
DEAR TRIUMPH OWNER:
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE AMOUNT OF FLUID DELIVERED FROM THE WINDSHIELD WASHER SCREEN JETS ON YOUR CAR MAY NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL SAFETY STANDARD #104. WE ARE, THEREFORE, ENCLOSING A SMALL VALVE WITH THE REQUEST YOU INSERT IT INTO THE OUTLET TUBE OF THE WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP EXACTLY AS SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM, ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THIS CARD.
THE INCLUSION OF THIS VALVE WILL GREATLY IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF YOUR WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM.
SHOULD THIS MODIFICATION PRESENT ANY DIFFICULTY YOUR TRIUMPH DEALER WILL PERFORM THIS FOR YOU AT NO CHARGE.
THIS INFORMATION IS BEING PROVIDED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT OF 1966, (SEC. 113)
