Oil Filter Sealing Ring- Stag

Oil leaks due to the filter sealing ring being cut by the filter case will result from an incorrect sealing ring being used on Unipart Filter, Part No. GFE 147.

The suspect sealing ring is 1/2 the thickness of the correct specification, thus allowing the ring to move in the groove, at which point cutting of the seal can take place.

Two sealing rings have been used and issued with the filter:

A. Ring measuring 1/8 in. wide and 1/8in. deep

B. Ring measuring 1/16 in. wide and 1/8 in. deep

The correct sealing ring (A) measures 1/8 in. wide and 1/8 in. deep. Please pay particular attention to this when servicing vehicles with Unipart Filter Part No. GFE 147 (BL Part No. 516836).
