Rear Half Shaft Hub Flange Attachment-TR-6


March, 1974

At vehicle identification number CF 15751, the method of retaining the hub flange to rear half shafts on the TR-6 was changed from a nyloc fastener to a castellated nut and cotter pin. Details of parts affected by this incorporation are as follow:

Half Shaft Flange Nut Tightening Torque

Nyloc nut, Part No. 138563: Tighten to 120 lb./ft.

Castellated nut, Part. No. 21 A/79: Tighten to 90 lb./ft. and examine for alignment of one of the two holes in the axle shaft with slots in the nut castellation. Where the other slots do not align with a shaft hole, further tighten the nut to attain proper alignment with the nearest slots. DO NOT BACK OFF THE NUT TO OBTAIN ALIGNMENT.
